Preface: This is my nightmare scenario so I know there are MANY better ways to do this however the workflow is in place so I have to figure out a bandaid for the time being.

I'm designing with InDesign and exporting to PDF. That PDF ideally is sent to customers, end of story. We have some customers who absolutely MUST have Word docs so I'd like to insert the PDF into Word and send it off. I'm not able to test whether or not older versions of Word have problems with this - stripping out the PDF or throwing off the format.

Does anyone know if older versions of Word will scramble my inserted PDF?

You are to be commended for worrying about your customers this way. People in my shop have sent PDF files embedded in Word documents for more than a decade. So unless your customers are running Word 97 or some such thing, I would not worry about it.
