The “notch” has started a fad with the non-iPhone X crew. :p
Sooooo, learn to “embrace the notch”. Seems it’s here to stay in at least one version or other.
Also the “leaks” of the new lineup on iPhones for this year show the “notch” there still.

I don't have an issue with the notch.

Embracing the camera abcess on the back of the phone is my problem.

Haha! This is hilarious!

I’ve even seen people now commenting how Apple weren’t the first with the notch and it was an android phone which first had a notch “Apple is always late to the party blah blah”.

I guess it’s now cool to have a notch and Apple just copied again?!

Well but it's true.. The Essential PH1 has a similar, but smaller notch and it was released 6 months before the X..

I had the PH1 and liked it but it had other issues that drove me away. I have and dig the X and the notch does not bother me at all..

Yea I know it’s true but no one really mentioned until now.
They kept quiet about it and instead pointed and laughed at the X, now more android phones are apparently getting notches, it’s all cool and ‘but we were first!’.

Just makes me laugh!

Didn’t they only sell 90,000 of them?

Interesting article discussing how Android may be adopting similarities to the notch in 2018 phones.

While Android dominates the middle and low-end of the global smartphone market, Apple controls much of the high-end with users who spend more on apps and other services. Embracing the notch may help change that. The design will mean more new Android phones with cutouts at the top of their screens to fit cameras and other sensors. That will likely support new features, helping Android device makers keep up with similar Apple technology. “

The truth of the matter is that all other companies still aspire to be Apple, the absolute high benchmark in the tech industry. So may products out there have borrowed Apple design embellishments, and who can blame them, the designs can be superb right down to the smallest details. As for the Essential phone, Id say that had more of a pimple than a notch ;)
