My computer was working fine earlier today. My private school gives out laptops to students during summer school. After school, my friend decides to show me the hidden things on our computer using terminal that they hide from us by typing in "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES" After that he types in something like killall Finder or something like that. Nothing really happens, and I go through the things that they're hiding from us. (hidden applications monitoring us, etc.) Well I go back to terminal and hit killall Finder or whatever it said. I copy what he put and hit enter not thinking it's going to do anything. But, this time. EVERYTHING ON MY DESKTOP DISAPPEARS. I totally freak out and quickly restart my computer hoping everything will come back, only to find out I can't even boot it up. It boots up to the grey screen with the spinning thing, makes a sound, spins for a minute or two, than shuts down for 2 seconds before trying to reboot again. HELP!

Also note, I don't have any of those discs...

I'm surprised they allow you access to Terminal. That is the one program I wouldn't want students to be messing around with.
