Hey,

did someone else encounter the following issue and possibly has a solution for it:
When opening the Emoji panel via CMD+Space and scrolling down to select an Emoji or other symbol, as soon as you click on an Emoji the panel automatically scrolls back to the top and thereby selects the wrong symbol. Please see the attached image for what happens!

Thank your for your help in advance!

Christian

Cmd + Space brings up Spotlight Search on my Mac, is this done via spotlight search?? I can't seem to do what you are doing, so have you re-mapped the shortcut to a different program?

I don't believe that this is built in Mac behaviour??

That makes more sense. Tried that, and mine when clicking doesn't jump back to the top and seems to work correctly. Inserted this with it with a double click.

I get this too! I asked my one friend if he had this issue but he said he doesn't notice because he has a 2016 MacBook Pro with touch bar so he uses that for emojis instead of the CMD+CTRL+Space picker. I'm using a 2016 MacBook Pro WITHOUT touch bar. baseline model. I've noticed it on all versions of Sierra it has been on. I am even on the 10.12.4 beta and it still does this for me.

As a workaround, I use the arrow keys + enter to move around and then pick the emoji. Kinda annoying but it at least makes it possible.

Also I got tired of opening the picker all the time so I put in TONS of keyboard shortcuts for a lot of my most-used emojis.

What Mac are you using/macOS version?

I nailed it down to a tool called “Magnet” which allows you to snap windows to the corners of the screen. As soon as I terminate it, the Emoji picker works correctly again.

Thanks for sharing your finding! Had the same issue, terminating Magnet solved it for me too! :D

Magnet is so useful, though. Fortunately I found an app called Spectacle that does the exact same thing, minus the pretty icons showing you where the windows will be. AND it doesn't affect the emoji picker!

I noticed this issue literally yesterday and was wondering if it was common or just me! I really love Magnet, such a shame it causes this. I might just power through and use the Touch Bar to pick emojis from now on.

Damn - I paid for Magnet! I've had this issue for MONTHS and thought it was a bug with the OS X Betas which no one else was bothered about!! I usually scroll the picker so the emoji i want is in the top row, then I can click and drag it into the text field. But I guess I'll give up on Magnet until I hear they've fixed this. Thanks!
