Emoji questions about iphone

Do these icons work if tehy are sent to someone NOT using the iphone aka droid??? Also is there an app that does work with other carriers???

I like emoji but its useless unless the other person has iphone.

They only work between iPhones.

You send one to a droid user and they'll not show up.
