I have emoticons on the iMessages beta on my MacBook pro, however those animated emoticons don't come up on the messages app in ios5. Is there a way to turn them on in the settings?
No, I mean, on the desktop messages app smilies like 🙂 come up as a full animated smiley, without any 3rd party stuff.... If the desktop one had it I would have thought iOS would, but I guess not.

the app like emoji icons i mentioned adds an "international" keyboard to the stock messages app so while you can't just put 🙂 or whatever it is you want. You simply tap over to the other keyboard and choose the icon you want

Is it? I got the app shortly after the app store first launched and it's moved to all my devices as I've upgraded over the years. I'm jailbroken and use bitesms which I think has it built in anyway.
