This just started happening a few hours ago while I was using my MBP (2.16 GHZ Core Duo) to take notes in lecture. The percentages are showing correctly when checking against iStat and Coconut.

Any idea what is going on?

Also, my Magsafe has been giving me the dim green light instead of bright green or orange lately. Should I be concerned of an underlying problem waiting to erupt on me?

reseting your SMC often fixes strange problems like this. of course you could try a simple restart first.
