I've been having some problems (in Safari) with Forum Spy. Every time I try opening it, it's just empty, but a page reload usually solves the problem. This is happening on both of my computers.

This was happening to me yesterday and early today in Safari...I cleared cookies and that didn't help...I cleared the cache and that has solved the problem for me.

Without seeing the problem first hand, it looks like the JavaScript file hasn't been loaded/run (everything that's missing from those screenshots is generated by Javascript). Can you have a look in the activity window to make sure everything is loaded?

Also, for those with the Debug menu enabled in Safari (or Firefox) you can check the JavaScript Console to see if any errors are being thrown.

Working for me at the moment at least.

Just got it again. Enabled the debug menu. See pictures below. I've also included the actual error messages given when you double click in the Javascript debug menu. If you want to know more specifics let me know. Edit: I still have the tab open so i can look elsewhere and find more information if you want me to.

Another note, i often get repeating posts in forum spy example given below. Do not know if this is related or not (i would think not) but just incase it is.

Hello everybody. Just arrived from Greece and I've noticed that forum spy doesn't work using Safari. I checked it using FireFox and it works just fine.

Am I the only one who is having this problem? [Mod note: Apparently not so the post is moved to this thread instead.]

I'm still having the problem FWIW.

I tried logging out - Didn't work.

I tried resetting Safari - No luck.

I'm out of ideas.

I had it happen to me once too just now. I can't seem to figure out why.

I reloaded and it worked. Is it happening reproduceably for anyone?

edit: seems to be a javascript issue specific to safari based on the error messages above.

Haven't had an occurrence for quite a little while now, for me it would be pretty regular, maybe 2 out of 3 attempts to use spy would result in the situation given above. Currently it is 100% success.

forum spy not working...

how come since yesterday whenever i try to use the forum spy here in MR is not working i thought it was just something wrong with the server or too busy or something but then i went to work and it was working fine there is it something in my mac? I get instead of the forum spy there are some links that say... "to view earlier post you may search for NEW POST or ....." how can i fix this i love the forum spy, it's the thing i use the most......

UPDATE: i am using FF and it is still happening but i just reload and it works fine... don't know what it is,, thanx for the help tho guys

we've been troubleshooting the forum spy again tonight. We made a change that I hope that will fix the problem once and for all. We changed the javascript file, so if you think you are still having problems, you can manually load

https://forums.macrumors.com/clientscript/spy1.2.js

to make sure you have the latest version of the file.

Otherwise, I hope this fixes things. Let me know if it still happens.
