Anyone playing this? On sale right now, Steam Summer Sale for 50% off!I played it 2 years ago and quit. Now some friend has decide to play, so I've been checking out the solo version, not very far along and much of it is not intuitive at all, kind of a pain in the ass.

If anyone has read this and gotten into end game territory, I'd like to hear about it. For those not familiar it's a survival game with both land based building, space exploration, and multiple planets.

On my Wishlist.

Looks like a forgotten No Man's Sky clone.

Gonna wait until it is around $5 before I try it out...

July 2018, Empyrion: Galactic Survival has the best building it in hands down right now. I'm looking forward to building a mega ship similar to what I had worked on Space Engineers which I got frustrated with, due to the minecraft look. Even with Space Engineers's rounded blocks, when you move away from a ship the rounded blocks revert to looking square, at least the last time I played it. In the Steam Workshop:

Looks cool.

Unfortunately, I missed the Steam sale.

No Man's Sky N E X T will keep me busy in the mean time...;)

When being new to the game and looking at a built structure, the parts are like putting together a puzzle, which is good more than bad. It means you have the ability to make more complex shapes without the Minecraft look. I’ll post some screens still in.

I set this game aside last Fall, but the urge to build a spaceship has come back. But then I went and looked at the blueprints available in Steam, primo building examples, and damn it, it's discouraging just how good these designs are!

I wanna! :p Maybe i will.

Just got hold of these ships, (available from the Steam Workshop) although beautiful, they fly like crap, and I was reminded they are limited to 200 frick’n MPH. I’m sure this is a game physics limit. But this is kind of a deterrent unless I could be satisfied with building a large static display, which I was ok with in Space Engineers.

Cool, thanks for the heads-up. It's been on my Wishlist.

Maybe the next Steam sale...

I would be freaking out - that's all I can say

What game were you playing btw.
Empyrion Galactic Survival. I have 700 hrs in it, took a very long break, and am back cause I have a ‘spaceship building bug’ unrelated to the critter mentioned. 😉 But instead of starting from scratch, reinventing the wheel so to speak, I am downloading blueprints and using cut and paste, which is an incredibly powerful tool in this game to section off pieces of a ship parts of it that I like, and incorporated into my own own design. Yes, some might consider it stealing, but the blueprints are offered for free and if I ever published this ship as a blueprint, I will give the original author of the ship I stole most from due credit.

More importantly @Huntn what was the game….?
I second @maflynn query, it sounds interesting.
Empyrion Galactica Survival, by some reports is on life support, a well known YouTube personality Spanj (if I spelled it right) build his channel on EGS and several months ago put out a goodbye video as gameplay is dying off. But it has a solo mode and I believe you can host a server. Honestly, I’m just not into the grind, but this game is the definitive ship builder. Their speed is limited to 100m/sec, they fly in atmosphere like dogs, keyboard mouse sucks for flying in this game, while in others, keyboard and mouse is doable. I’ll mention Starfield and I just picked up EverSpace 2 on sale at steam, those ships fly perfectly well with keyboard and mouse.

Yeah, I’ve not discovered any game on the market that has the depth of building a ship that doesn’t look like Lego blocks as this does. An example there would be Space Engineers. Ref EGS, you don’t have to run wires, but it’s got pretty in depth technology for a simple game from an engineering standpoint. And look at the blueprints, some beautiful ships have been created and you can get them so easy. Note in a survival game (vs +creative mode), you have progress to a required level and you have to gather all the required materialsbefore you can spawn such a blueprint ship in the game.

Now, if you wanna play the game, you can go through the grind and see what happens. You crash land on a planet start gathering, building a base and in a sort of short period of time you start being attacked by enemy drones. It is perfectly feasible to get your base up and running with turrets in time to defend yourself but from that point on periodically, you will be attacked as you progress through gathering and building your stuff to go explore the stars.

The Dive 1 and Perseus Carrier are the epitomes of proficient, excellent ship building. I usually don’t like being up past 11 PM, midnight at the latest. Last night during, the ‘bug incident’ , because of the shower I took, I was up till 2 AM. For myself, ship building can be addictive as I lose track of time. 🤔

Getting a handle on blocks can be tricky. Here is a Quick Ref Gide I posted at the Empyrion Forums a while back:

So this game seems to be similar to No Mans sky, maybe I'm wrong. Not knocking it, just pointing out when NMS came out, all you had was base building, mining, and exploration

No man’s guy just came out with an update that allows you to build ships but then it says invite your friends. I wanna know if this builtship can be flown and efficiently used solo? Now I haven’t seen the no man’s sky update, but I’ll maintain that EGS has the most in-depth Vaux based, with nice shapes, spaceship building building of any game I’ve ever seen.

Here’s an image of the page ship I’m working on an EGS. There’s an area of blocklyness on the right side just in front of the right engine pod that I used for part of my cut and paste connection operation where I take it a ship apart, reconfigure it and paste it together and then go from there.

Acknowledgment that this originally with someone else else’s design that I downloaded from a blueprint. But it’s pretty easy to rebuild with cut and paste which is incredibly powerful in this game. You can see the name Dive 1, but my plan is to remove the core of the ship replace it with my own, which I think will allow me to rename it. And I do this because I wanna learn from how other people put together their ships instead of going through a long learning curve. This is just so much faster figuration, that will be significantly altered. The original ship had engines out on pods and it had a rear facing internal bay with a door that open to the back. I wanted a bay with doors, on both sides where I could fly in and fly out a small ship, hovercraft, or drive a tank in and out,and not have to try to rotate the ship around inside the bay, which can be difficult.
There’s actually quite a bit to know about how to put together a ship and have it be functional in this game.

I have No Man’s Sky and once I learn more about this new ship building, I may jump back into that. I remember many moons ago that when I played it, it got kind of boring and the one space station that I visited was bare bones, blah as compared to any of the more developed AAA type games. I mean, I rag on Starfield, but the settlements and the space stations you go to meet the requirements of what you expect a space station to look like and are populated.

Now, if I end up not playing this game, seriously, then why go through all the effort? Simply because I enjoy building and designing, and this might just end up being one big static display.

A possible interest I’m building this ship on a platform, but there’s an issue in this game with block ownership. The platform is technically a base, all of the blocks belong to it so if you’re not starting a spaceship out in space, you have to start it on the ground by placing a core on the ground, which can be a little bit of a pain when it comes to lifting it up and putting landing gear on it. But I’ve studied enough that I know that my landing gear is two blocks high and there’s a way to place a core on the ground copy, cut, and paste with an elevated in the air and remain elevated for just enough seconds that you could throw a couple of blocks underneath it that will attach to it and keep it raised up off the ground. Then that can be moved via cut and paste to the building platform.
