If you set it this way:
Enable dolby Vision: Yes
Format: 4k Dolby Vision
Match Content and framerate: Yes & Yes

Does it switch to SDR for SDR content without forcing a fake HDR/DV?

I will test this tonight as I just have received the new ATV.

I’ve had it set this way, and it seems to lay fake HDR over SDR content. I’ll be curious to hear what you find. I prefer it set to 4K SDR with all matching on because the SDR content looks better, although the screensavers are debatable. I’m back and forth on that.

Just unpacked the new APTV.

If I set to YES "Match Dynamic Range", according to my TV (LG C1): SDR content is played as SDR. And HDR as HDR.
If I set to NO "Match Dynamic Range" and "Format setting" to 4k HDR, if I play SDR content, my TV say it is HDR.

I believe this the intended behavior.

Definitely overlays fake HDR and makes everything looked washed out that is SDR. I suggest 4K SDR with content match and frame rate match on. If you are having any issues, start with disabling frame rate match. Haven't had any issues setting it up this way.

With that said, I have seen people say everything works and still looks good with Dolby Vision enabled. If you feel it looks good, that is what matters.
