im burning a collection of xvid moves/series by using toast titanium and the dvd setup so i can watch it on tv by using a dvd player.
though the encoding takes forever.

any tips on a good encoding program that will get the job done for a macbook pro.

hmmm. I would say ffmpeg, but I don't think it's UB yet.

Try looking around here, they seem to list a lot of options, although some of it seems outdated:

Download and install the Xvid codec. Then use iMovie to edit and iDVD to burn.
