Does it matter what type of volume format you use when making an encrypted disk image? Also, does it matter what type of partition you choose when making one, or should you just select no partition map?

thanks

Doesn't matter.

Sparse bundle works best with time machine.

I either use Apple Partition Map or Hard Disk for the partition table.

Cool, thanks. I am just wanting to make password protected sparse disk image files for an external hard drive for my backups.
