You can't remove a password from an encrypted backup. That would beat the purpose of the encryption.

I encrypted my backup so nobody can ever get my saved stuff and restore it to their device.
And now I forgot the password, how do I bypass it again? :D

You will never get that password back if you forgot it. You'll need to make a new backup with a new password.

Erase and set up as new.

Next time, don't enable things if you are not going to keep track of the password.

I think you can only do an encrypted backup when plugged into a computer through itunes. So just uncheck the box that says to encrypt or do it through icloud.

Except the encrypted back up backs up more things, so it's preferable. Just don't forget the password next time.

You have to download them from iTunes. Since app splitting was introduced they dont sync over anymore.

They make the easiest backup solution of any phone manufacturer. I fail to see where the hate is. Just don't forget your password to an encrypted backup.

Well it does restore the apps ... but it re-downloads them. So, at the very least, you don't have to go looking for them again.

Apple uses App Splitting to save space on your device. And you hate them?

I did this and resigned myself that whenever a device failure arose or I got a new phone that I would just have to set it as new and lose stuff (I sync my photos through Dropbox, so wouldn't lose those). Luckily for me about 6 months after this happened I found my password written on a piece of paper when I was cleaning out my desk! So now I'm back in business.

But otherwise, if you've lost the password, you are SOL for unencrypting your backup.

You could also hate your countries crazy internet bandwidth prices.
