apologies if this is in the wrong section but my mac took a fall of a table which has resulted in a smashed screen which I currently cannot afford to replace.

I've taken out the HDD and by using HSFExplorer I have managed to recover most of the my files on to my windows laptop, but I had some files in encrypted sparseimages which nothing on windows seem to be able to open.

does anyone know of a program that could open these? or failing that is it possible to boot my windows laptop off the external HDD containing OSX?

Thanks

You could try the NSA but otherwise I suspect you are out if luck if it was that easy there wouldn't be any point encrypting them !
And no to the second question.
Do you know anyone with a Mac? It might work if you opened it up off that, gave it the password then copied the files to an ordinary folder on a USB stick or whatever.
