Can someone explain the new Mac format ? Mac OS X Journed, Encypyted in Disk Utility? I think this is part of 10.7.3.

Having not done this yet, I also see references in articles to FileVault 2. Since FileVault is an encryption by itself, what difference would the new mac OS X format make over FV?

Also, how secure is the new bootable format.... e.g. AES and where/how is it stored?

    Thank for the info.

Forget using FileVault. It is a sledge hammer when all you need is a laser beam to protect certain data.

I use the shareware Espionage for having some important encrypted folders.
