I really dislike the new, extra confirmation step when you choose to end a workout in watchOS 10. I think I know the answer to this, but is there any way to turn it off? I had a look in the settings and couldn't see anything.

I've had my watch for three years and have not once accidentally ended a workout, so find this extra step to just be annoying (especially when you're going for a fast running pace and are trying to end the workout mid-run!).

I use a shortcut from my AWU....though I am having it perform several more tasks. Though it does not require a confirmation to end a workout when invoking from a shortcut.

Thanks, I will give that a look.

@jz0309 i don't think asking siri will work as i don't have a cellular connection when i run, and i'm on the series 6, which doesn't have offline siri support.

When you finish your run are you outside your home? If so, does the watch pickup Wifi? Or even BT back to the phone at that point?

Yea, probably won’t work in that scenario, just try anyways.
I don’t like that additional prompt, don’t use Siri, haven’t for years, but for this it’s good ;)

I leave my phone at home when I go running, and usually end the run not near my home — so I need a solution that works offline.

This shortcut example was for ending my outside run and invoking the shortcut as I arrive at the front door as the first task in the shortcut is to unlock the door. During my outside run I am on cellular streaming music and/or Podcasts (without my iPhone), so my start workout shortcut turns off WiFi and AOD just to preserve some battery...so the end shortcut turns that back on. I leave BT on during my workouts as I am using my AirPods.

I like your shortcut idea. I have an phone automation but that runs after I end a workout. I may switch to a shortcut to replace the automation.

Yea, that is advertised as such indeed, but, does not seem to be working for me, but that’s subject if another thread
Offline Siri and Dictation require some dependencies that take some time to download.

If you sleep with your Watch, consider skipping it one night and leaving it on the charger to download in the background.

This is also driving me bonkers. Worn an Apple Watch since the series 0 and not once ended a workout accidentally, unlike stopping a stopwatch many times. Since the new os, I’ve left workouts running for hours.

I invite you to leave Apple feedback at https://www.apple.com/feedback Everything here is a workaround and bandaid. There should be a setting to disable that like the other detect start/end settings.

I like the os improvements generally even though my fingers have different memory for many of the actions. This is one I’m just not getting used to and the only one that significantly impacts my battery.

Cheers for the link — have just submitted some feedback. Here's hoping they give us a settings toggle in future 🙏🏻
