Hello guys,

So my MacBook Pro has an interesting behavior. I usually leave my computer on while working on a project (usually 2-3 days) so I just put it to sleep by closing the lid. The problem is that when I'm docked (usb c) at home, the computer activates my monitor every time Mail gets a new email, WhatsApp/Chrome pick up a new notification, or even when I get an iMessage. This is very annoying because the monitor lights up my entire room, even if it is for a few seconds.

Now, energy saver has 2 options that I believe could fix this, but I am not sure what to enable.

  1. Prevent computer from sleeping automatically... (1st)
  2. Wake for Wi-Fi access (3rd)
I don't really know if I want the computer to sleep or not when the display is off (I would think not, but this is enabled by default so I figured Apple knows best?)
And then maybe all I want is for my Mac not to wake to receive those notifications? But is it even sleeping to begin with? Wouldn't option 1 sort of disable option 3?

And on a completely unrelated note, can I have do some sort of Wake-On-Lan (over WiFi) to wake my Mac and remote into it via TeamViewer when I'm at my school lab, for example?

Thank you in advance!
