Did he also fix the hissing noise (coil whine) while charging?
Try different cable and charger. I charge my 17 Pro at home that literally has no grounding and 50 years old copper wires and there are no issues or any noise, but my charging cable is slow one - IKEA USB-A to USB-C and old Apple 5V charging brick

Cables were bad, connector itself - good. It was easier to clean and much more sturdy than USB-C that must be used with special care

I’ve heard this said before but I’ve never seen a USB-C connector break due to not being handled carefully. Neither the connector nor the receiver. I have seen some flimsy Lightning connectors get crushed, though.

Funny how hacks to add USB-C were hailed as evidence of the overwhelming demand to change, but hacks to add Lightning are passed off as foolish. More likely both are people pursuing personal challenges and the reaction here is mostly arguments seeking ammunition.

Why would anyone want to bring back that piece of **** cable?
Believe it or not but the lightning port is significantly more durable than usb c. If that little piece in the middle of the usb c port ever breaks (and it does happen) you’re toast. And if dust gets in there it’s even harder to clean out the port. Lightning jacks are super easy and safe to clean out. Just for longevity reasons I prefer it.

I'm having a hard time thinking of projects more useless than this.

My iPhone becoming USB-C was literally THE biggest upgrade ever, by far.

Those are compelling arguments! 👍

Today the only device I own with Lightning is my phone, and along with an aging battery, the reason I want to upgrade.
