You know how on the bottom plate of the Macbook Pro with the engraving that says your serial number and how "This computer was designed by Apple" or something like that? Is that supposed to fade away because around half of that has faded away. I'm afraid my serial number will fade away too, but it hasn't yet. Is that because the serial number is engraved and the text above it isn't?

Mine doesn't have my serial on it for some reason, but I believe that is etched and the rest of it is printed. Even if it did fade, it's built into the firmware of the computer, so you don't need to worry about that.

Okay that's a good thing. I just don't want coverage to be voided because the serial number goes away.

you can always find your serial number under about this mac > more info

unless you have your logic board replaced, then it will list the new logic boards serial, which could confuse a potential buyer, like when i sold my previous mbp.
