Enlarging image with 2 fingers

Is anyone else having problems enlarging an image or reducing it? When I first got my Aluminum Macbook, it seemed easier. Now it either goes too big or too small. This may be a software issue but thought I would ask....
It depends; what program are you using to edit the picture?
Just looking at a web page and trying to adjust it larger or smaller. It is not smooth.
When adjusting a webpage, it's not a smooth transition -- it simply increases the size of the text. Therefore, one pinch out will increase the font size by 1. Another pinch out will increase font size by 2... etc.
It should be smooth when working with photos, for example in Preview or iPhoto. But webpages are a little different.
