ENORMOUS headings in iOS 11: Can they be adjusted/reverted?

In Messages, there is now a
Huge Heading
with a ton of useless white space around it, just to remind me that yes in fact I am in the messages app. Just in case that wasn't obvious by the, I dunno, messages I was viewing...

Similarly, in email, there is another huge waste of space informing me that I'm viewing
All Inboxes
or perhaps just "Inbox" if I'm in a specific account.

Is there any way to move these obnoxious headings to the unused white space in the middle, or simply revert back to the way it used to be? I don't even recall what it used to look like, but this is really annoying. I feel like it's more for everyone else's benefit around me that might be creepin over my shoulder...

I’m sure the answer is no, but I wouldn’t mind decreasing the size either, haha. Guessing we’ll get used to it.

If you scroll past them, they disappear to the middle and shrink quite significantly...

I'm finding all the font sizes above standard were aggressively increased - being over 50 I was using the low-end large fonts in accessibility but I had to dial those right back as when upgraded to 11 from 10 fonts turned out massively HUGE...
