Enters sleep mode and looses connection while uploading

I am transferring a 1,3 GB file with sprend but leaving the computer for a while makes it enter sleep mode and the uploading discontinues, has never happened before.

I recently switched from snow leopard to mavericks, could that be a reason?

Change the Energy Saver settings in System Preferences, found in the menu, to something more appropriate.
