In Entourages address book view there are the following categories under the drop down menu: Changed in the Past 7 Days Due Today. Family Category. Personal Category. Work Category. How can I add other categories under the address view (eg: friends)? How can I add a view of contacts that have no category association. How can I change the current default views? I never got an answer and was not able to figure out a way to do it. Since my main computer is a PC I have been using outlook as well as web based address books. Still, if anyone has an answer I would love to hear about it.
It's easy to add new categories in Entourage. In the toolbar, click on the Categories icon, and select "Edit Categories", where you'll get the Categories dialog. In that dialog, you can: add new categories by pressing the "add" toolbar icon delete existing categories by pressing the "delete" toolbar icon edit an existing category by double-clicking on its name in the list change the category colour for an existing category by clicking on the category colour box One way to do this is to sort your contact list by category. The ones with no categories will show up at the bottom. I do this a couple of times per month because I want everyone in my address book to have a category, so this lets me see if I've accidentally missed setting a category. Thanks, that was easy. My mistake I was not adding the category in the mail view. I was trying to do it the contact view.

However, I still can't figure out how to add categories to the views in the left panel for mail and address views depending on which screen you are in. There are a set group of categories that I can't appear to change, but I believe it must be possible. How can I make the categories I create appear in the view? thanks in advance for help.

I just figured out how to add and edit categories and views in the entourage address book: To edit categories: Go to main Address Book. Click on an entry. Click on categories icon on toolbar. Click Edit Categories. Then click New. (On some entries when I click on Categories, the Edit Categories option does not appear - don't know why. I just switch to a different entry.) To add a view: Right click on "Address Book Views" Left click "New Saved View" Edit criteria Click save upper right Type new view name and save. Hope this helps. Now, I want to see cell borders in address book view. Can't figure it out.
Mail view and Address Book Views When I right click on "address book views", what comes up is "new saved search" rather than "new saved view". "view" option doesn't allow me to change anything in the address book view. Hope someone is still monitoring this thread and can provide additional clarification. Thx!
For this, a view is a search. Enter in the criteria that you want to filter down on, and you'll get a new view under "Address Book Views". Regards, Nadyne.
