Hello,

I have never used Entourage before but I am on an imac using OS X version 10.4.11 2008 Office edition.

When ever I go to open anything in my inbox in crashes on me then restarts.
After I did an update it stopped for a bit then just started crashing again.
Other people in my office are having similar issues, either they cant even open Entourage or its giving them a data error message.

We have been getting ALOT of spam lately on our network. Could this be the problem?

Please help! IT will take weeks to even respond!

First, make sure that you're completely up-to-date with your Office 2008 patches. The latest is 12.1.5.

Have you done anything to your Office installation, such as run an application like Xslimmer or Monolingual?

Spam shouldn't be causing Entourage to crash, unless you're noticing that you're always crashing when opening a particular message.

Have you run the Database Utility to make sure that it's okay? To do that, go to the Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office folder and run the Microsoft Database Utility. The first step should be to verify your database. If you've got a lot of email, you can also compact it.

If that doesn't work, then I'll need some more information about what happens when you crash. What is the error message are some people getting when it crashes? Does it crash immediately, or do you see the beachball spin for a little while? Does it crash at the same time (say, if you click on a message in your inbox) or randomly?

Regards,
Nadyne.

I have the same problem, i get the spinning beachball.

We deserve the problems

My entourage is also crashing. Why do we persist in using the Microsoft products? Isn't this monster the reason we switched to Apple? And then we bring the Office suite with us and expect it to work properly.

I've installed iWork and started using Page instead of Word. I've found Keynote to be much easier to work with than PowerPoint. Looks like the next step is to ditch Entourage and find another email handler that Mac likes.

Which email handler haver you found works well for you?

Me too

I'm having this same problem. Just started earlier this week. I have updated anything and I've tried the utility twice. Each time it says my database is working perfectly. Entourage just crashes about 10 times a day. All of a sudden for no reason. I suspect Microsoft. Seems like when you don't buy an update for one of their products - it just stops working or working well after a while. I'm also thinking of moving to Mac mail or something else.
