In Outlook on a Windows machine it is possible to create multiple .pst files and than drag and drop e-mails (recieved and sent) etc into the appropriate .pst file. So for example you could end up with projectX.pst, projectY.pst or mail2006.pst, mail2007.pst etc. For me this provides an easy way of keeping pst file sizes down and also archiving off stuff which is no longer immediately required. Outlook then allows you to attach these pst files to Outlook and open them up so you could for example pop in a CD with your 2004 e-mails on search through for whatever. I am unable to find this capability in Entourage - am I being stupid and not looking in the right place or is this functionality not supported? If it is supported an indication of how to do it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Meant to add using Entourage 2004.

I never found out how to do this- therefore abandoned Entourage.

About the only thing I found was to use OEExporter to save emails out individually to a folder, then delete, then rebuild the Entourage database (hold option as you open Entourage). You have to rebuild because Entourage is too dimwitted to recover the space freed up by deleting items. Before rebuilding, make d^#*ed certain that you have adequate free hard drive space for a new copy of the Databases.

Thanks CanadaRAM. At least I now don't feel that I have missed something obvious. Are there any Mac based e-mail clients that do enable you to do this? Have not tried Mail because of my upbringing on MS Office so during my transition from Win to OS X just plumped for Office for Mac as little learning required.

Entourage 2004 archives have the .rge extension. This format is incompatible with .pst, but serves much the same purpose. These archives may hold all Entourage data connected to a project, not just emails. Suffice it to say, you may have multiple .rge archives open at any one time.

Help!

I am using Entourage on a new MAC. My mail is on an Exchange server that only allows me to keep my mail for 45 days. I can recall while running outlook, I was able to create a .pst file for my mail in which to store elsewhere.
Is there an easy way to just create a similar .pst file in Entourage in which to store my mail?

I guessing probably not but worth a try. I'd like to keep from having to set up IMAP, or anything else for that matter.
