Self to spouse this morning: “why the hyperfits over iPX $$? Didn’t we pay well over $800 for each of those iP6s-pluses in Sept 2015?”

So I searched, and since nothing ever truly disappears from web—found this in review from IBR.com Sept 2015:

“iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

The new iPhones are obviously the most expensive new devices your money can buy.

The new iPhones come in three colors, including Silver, Space Gray, Gold and Rose Gold, and three memory capacities each – yes, there’s no 32GB new iPhone just yet.

  • 16GB iPhone 6s: $649
  • 64GB iPhone 6s: $749
  • 128GB iPhone 6s: $849
  • 16GB iPhone 6s Plus: $749
  • 64GB iPhone 6s Plus: $849
  • 128GB iPhone 6s Plus: $949”
SO, after more than two years, I paid just $150 more for my iPX 64gb than for my 64gb iP6s+, which has gone to live happily with new owner paying $309.

drop mic. peace out.

Yep. 6S+ 128gb was $950 plus tax makes it over $1000. It's always been expensive.

I have mentioned this before. 969.00 for my 2 year old 6s Plus. X has significant improvements/features--IMO. It is a little less than 300.00 more for me, with taxes. Not unreasonable. Still a lot of money for many people. But, 3x markup for electronics is not unreasonable when you factor in engineering costs, etc.

It’s really not that much more expensive.

Considering that most people’s phones are used all day every day, it seems like good value when compared to other electronics. I certainly use it more than my computer, for example. You also mention resale value, which I think not only encourages recycling by passing the phone onwards to someone else, but also defrays the cost of the new one.

Sometimes in order to justify value of something, it depends how much we actually use it and of course, the ability to afford it. In the case of the iPhone, we tend to be very tied into our smart phones today because of how much it involves our daily lives of communication and other connections. The iPhone is the one device I could justify the cost Being I would use it frequently and appreciate the latest features.

Really? I recently paid £2,000 for a new LG OLED TV. That's a device, money bought it, and it was more than the new iPhones. I'm sure that a quick search will reveal a plethora of devices that are more expensive than the new iPhones.

I don't disagree with the sentiment - I think most modern smartphones are cheap for what they do, but your statement there is just plain wrong.

Oh don't go down that route. I tried explaining that value also comes from how much you use something and how we pretty much are tied to our phones these days, that makes them good value. But, somebody turned around and tried arguing against that, saying that by the same token their toilet should cost $15,000...

Yes, want me to repeat what you quoted?

"The new iPhones are obviously the most expensive new devices your money can buy."

Not only do I read threads, I use proper capitalisation at the beginning of sentences.

I've never paid for an Plus, just not worth the price. And the X is $1600 were I am, twice of what you paid.

iPhone demand has exceeded expectations, allowing for increased capitalization of Apple’s stock repurchasing plan.

What you quoted was quoted by me/OP from a bgr.com 2015 review to show silliness of current/recurrent “expensive” argument.
