Apple has been rumored to be looking into buying MGM/Epix to bolster their TV+ content library. I wonder if this is them testing the waters.

I have a VPN service, but I’m using an Apple TV mostly. Apparently to use a VPN with it you have to have the VPN at the router level or something. Plus I have access to lots of movies between Netflix, Prime, Prime add-ons and CraveTV.
For AppleTV, or any other STB without a built-in VPN, you are correct, you'd have to have/implement a VPN on your router; that's what I do. That's the better solution all around, IMO.

CBS All Access is offering a 30 day free trial ... but be careful - bait and switch will charge your credit card:
Select Commercial Free and enter the promo code for the 30 day free trial and you get a confirmation that you're signed up for the Limited Commercial version. There is no message saying that ONLY the Limited Commercial is available for the free trial. So, if you click on the link to switch to Commercial Free (which is an option for Hulu's free trial!!) - there is NO WARNING from CBS - they simply charge your credit card and your free trial is gone. Obviously they should have a pop-up "If you change to Commercial Free, your Free Trial will immediately end and your credit card will be charged". But they don't. They just charge you. Shame on them. Customer Service does not respond to messages.

I hope you are right about the Apple TV+ app. I like the service and I like a lot of the content but I don't like the way the app mixes Apple's original content with everybody else's content making it hard to find what you are looking for.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but to single out the Apple content from that first tab in the Mac app (not sure what it is called in English, something with "watch" in it), scroll down a bit and you will see circles with the name of the services in them (Apple TV+ is the first one). Click on that and only the Apple stuff will show up on the screen. But yeah, their interface is the worst!

Unbelievable how the cable companies go from including this channels in a bundle to have to pay for each of them now.:mad:

Alright, I'm a little confused. I knew vaguely about this Epix promotion. And it sounds like something you don't have to sign up for, it's just "automatically" free. But I didn't put any thought into it or take any action at all (didn't download any apps for it or anything).

Tonight I got this email from Apple:

Your Apple ID, xxxxx, was just used to download EPIX: Stream with TV Package [ Version 834526983; support url is https://www.epix.com/contact] from the iTunes Store on a computer or device that has not previously been used. You may also be receiving this email if you reset your password since your last purchase.

If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.

If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go to iforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Security and your Apple ID for further assistance.

Regards,
Apple

Is this some auto security feature that was tripped by Epix being free? Or does this sound like a legit warning that something might be up with my account and it's just coincidence that it's happening with Epix at the same time they're running this promotion?

EDIT: Just realized a family member who I will not shame did install it on our old Apple TV (where I'm logged in, but have never purchased anything). Mystery solved, false alarm!
