Epson Stylus DX3800 can't connect

I have just purchased a refurb MacBook Pro 2012 with Mountain Lion - Both Apple and Epsom have told me I can't use my Epson Stylus DX3800 with it.. but just wondered if there is a MacWizard out there who could help me get round this. 😱
I've plugged in the printer usb and it recognises it but that's all. I am not a technical person 😕 so don't what to try next.

Install Gutenprint (third-party driver set):
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php

DX3800 is listed as supported.

Then just Add the printer in Print & Scan Prefs - same as with factory driver.

Thank you so much 🙂 it has taken me an hour of fiddling but now it WORKS and has just printed. 🙂

Really appreciate you helping.. and thanks to the guys who offer the free software.
