I am in the market for a new Wide format Inkjet printer. Say (13 x19) perhaps as wide as (17 x 22) I have always been a very big fan of Epson.

My last Wide format Inkjet, sorry at this time I can't recall the model number, I bought like 4-5 years ago was always giving me Grief, Miss feeds, paper jams and it finally gave up the ghost and died.

NOW I am reading reviews on Amazon and B&H Photo and man there are a lot of hysterical upset people that use to swear by Epson. Some very angry PAST Epson fans.

PLEASE ADVISE

I advise you to oil up that finger that OWC has put in your backside, you won't fit another finger up there from your printer otherwise

While I do not own a wide format inkjet, both of my Canon Pixmas have been fantastic!

I got an HP non-wide format (Envy 7830) at a great price directly from the HP UK website.

The great thing only HP offer, is their Instant Ink programme. I used to spend £20 a month on carts, now I spend £1.99/month for my <50 pages/month printing costs. As carts are unreliable generally across the industry, if one fails with this plan, they send new ones, or before they're empty, they always send a spare to have on hand.

Don't buy those liquid bottle refill-a-container-on-the-printer types; they make a mess, and are an utter pain to waste your life with!

P.S. What's this OWC (Other World Computing?) joke about...?

TBH, printers these days are like commodities. There is virtually sod all difference between one model and another across brands within the same price range.

They're all a pain in the backside, as they either breakdown, clogg-up after a period of use, or fail in some way that can't be fixed. Thus it's easier/cheaper to throw away the machine and buy a new one – i.e. don't spend a fortune on one, as it'll need throwing away sooner than you hope.

My mom had 2 Edson printers over the years and nothing but issues. She got a Canon and that thing is working great!

The Canons have held their own in my house - though it finally kicked the bucket after many many years! We decided to replace it with a Brother laser printer due to printing primarily text documents and code printouts from developing.

Epson = WORST printer I ever owned.

There was a time when they were good - and some of their products are still good but it seems they went down hill a bit recently...

A little off topic as I'm referring to a 2nd. hand A4 Epson EP-703A which I bought here in Japan for about U.S.$10.
I can get full sets of cartridges from China through Yahoo Japan for about ¥600.
Haven't bought original Epson ink in years.
This printer had clogged heads but using the Ammonia / distilled water trick got it working perfectly after a days.
Also have a Canon A3 laser now 16 years old running perfectly in Sierra 10.12.6 ( hacked the Sandbox ) and luckily still had a Canon driver that Sierra allowed me to install. ( also works in High Sierra so far).

Here's a link if anyone is interested. Post #476 https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...not-work-thread.2048660/page-20#post-25101421
