I'm attempting to prepare my M1 MacBook Air for resale. Yesterday it was running Big Sur, I migrated my data, settings, etc, to my new MacBook Pro (2021), running Monterrey 12.1. Migration successful.

I then upgraded the MacBook Air to Monterey, in order to use the Erase all Content and Settings feature. In attempting to use this feature, the app informs me that iCloud sync is happening and that I might lose data if I continue. I've had the machine up and running, connected to WiFi for over a day and it still says it's syncing. I've restarted, etc. The only other thing I can think of is logging out of iCloud first, but I was hoping to just use the new feature and have that do all the work for me.

Have any of you seen this or experienced it? Advice on what to do next? I can wait another day if it really is syncing, but I'd like to post the machine to eBay ASAP, to offset the cost of the new machine.
Thanks in advance.

Sign out of iCloud. Let it complete the sign out. I think you’ll be good after that.
