    Hi

Currently I have an iphone that is connected to my iCloud account, with photos and data (Everything is in the cloud and in the phone).

I want to do a reset to factory settings of the iPhone. How do I make sure that I do not delete my entire iCloud library in the process? Do I need to sign out iCloud first?

    Many thanks

    Apple ID>iCloud>iCloud Backup>Back Up Now

Do a manual backup using iTunes to be sure as well.

Then Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings

I see, thanks. So just confirming that there is no need to sign off iCloud first?

After you back up. Sign out of iCloud as well then wipe it.

Also not that it will make a difference but I’ll put it in another perspective for you. If you sign out of iCloud, then whatever content that is on the cloud is there and safe, and then whatever is on the device will be getting deleted and it will be impossible to touch anything that’s on the cloud b/c you signed out.

No need to sign out of iCloud. It certainly won't hurt, but there's no need to do so.
