I am trying to quick erase a CD-RW in El Capitan OS (version 10.11.1) but the erase option is greyed out within the Disk Utility window.

Thanks for any tips on how to erase a CD-RW within the El Capitan OS.

Disk Utility doesn't support burning anymore, maybe that also encompasses erasing. Have you tried it within Finder? There might be an option when you right-click on the CD in the Finder.

If not, you can use Terminal. Just enter the following command for quick-erase:
Code:
hdiutil burn -erase

Finder doesn't support erasing a disk either.
Maybe there's a third party app for this purpose.
