I sold my ipad2 for $370 on eBay yesterday. Woohoo! Is there a way to set my iPad back to factory status before I ship it, without it being docked? Thank you!

Needs to be done from iTunes.
No it doesn't. I'm at work right now so I can't check but in settings there is an option to erase everything basically resetting it to factory settings. I can't remember what it's called. That's what I did with my previous iPhones and original iPad.

Yes it is best to back it up using iTunes before you do that especialy if you plan on getting the new one. That said it's not how you reset it to factory settings. Realistically one should be backing it up on a regular basis anyway.
