Just trying to see how I can erase this iPhone before I get rid of it. It has 2.0 software on it.

Searched on Google and got this:

It says that with the iPhone 2.0 software that when I "tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings, iPhone OS will remove all contents and settings by writing ones to the data partition."

Is this sufficient enough to ensure that my data cannot be recovered? I just don't want this to happen to me.

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like this is a good way to go. Why not restore your iPhone while it's plugged in, and revert it to a 'factory-new' condition?

I read somewhere that restoring the iPhone just flags your data files to be overwritten. So when you restore, you're really not erasing anything. You have to keep adding and removing files (music and movies) from the iPhone before your data is erased.

I just want something that is proven to securely erase the iPhone.
