Hi guys,

I've been considering getting the new 24" iMac but I have a few questions since I've always had a laptop.

According to Apple, the resolution will be somewhere between 1080p and 1440p (duplicated to retina). Most monitors in the 24-25" range (the iMac is apparently 23.5") are 1080p and 1440p, just not retina, so this is great news.

Does this mean I can be closer to the monitor? Their advertising shows people sitting right in front of it.

Is there a recommended distance? Thank you

This is the perfect distance :)

I think the recommended distance for adults is usually a bit more than an arm's length. It obviously depends on the size of the display and more importantly its resolution. The scaling built into macOS will allow you to adjust the size of the user interface to your liking and your preferred viewing distance.

Oh how very true - just learned how correct that was - I tried it.

Without corrective lenses, my WQHD 27" Apple display is perfect a bit more than arm's length.:)

Then my second display (32" 4K) is perfect about 1.5 arm length away! ;)
