My iPhone 3G has been acting up lately. I don't use it as a phone, just an iPod since I'm in the POK (Prison of Korea)

I put it into DFU mode by holding down the power and home buttons for 10 seconds, release the power button while still holding down the home button, and wait until iTunes recognizes it. It pops up with error 2100 and says it can't identify the iPhone.

I installed the USB patch for 10.5.6. I get a similar error under Windows 7. Has anyone experienced this? I tried googling and searching everywhere, but can't seem to find a solution.

I would try putting it in recovery mode, and then doing a restore. If you used the 10.5.6 usb fix from here, and it still doesn't work, I would try a powered USB hub, but that fix worked perfectly for me.
