Hey guys,

I've been given a friends iPhone because he was having trouble with it. I'm trying to do a restore on the phone using iTunes and I'm continually getting an error code 1015. A google search says that the error is happening because I'm trying to restore the phone using an earlier version of software (downgrade). This makes no sense because I'm not doing anything of the sort. The phone isn't jailbroken - I have all my software up to date and I just hit restore in iTunes. Any ideas why I'm getting this error even thou I'm using the most up to date software?

Is it an iphone 3g or 3gs?
Watch this video if you have a 3G;

what happened was your friend updated his/her baseband to 6.15.00. the normal iphone sequence is 5.XX.XX and at the end of the restore, itunes couldn't update the baseband because it was too high and that gave you error 1015. Your friend updated the baseband most likely because he/she needed an unlocked iPhone.
