Please help! I have a MacBook Pro from Early 2015. It was working fine the day before and now I’m having major issues. Here’s what has been tried so far:

1. When opening my Mac, I see a flashing folder and question mark.
2. From here, Apple Support helped enter Internet Recovery.
3. In Internet Recovery, from Disk Utility, they had me run First Aid and remove the existing disk.
4. When I then go to install Monterey, it load up until it says ‘12 minutes’ and then I receive the above error. I have tried several times and continue to receive the same error after the OS appears to be loading fine for awhile.

Has anyone experienced this or can help? The only thing I’ve been able to find online, is how to get to internet recovery. No one discusses what to do if you encounter an error message trying to reinstall OS!

Try creating a Monterey Bootable USB drive, and/or try "recovery w/ oldest OS" - Option + Shift + Cmd + R on boot.

If you do the second option, you'll need to "re-upgrade" to Monterey. It also could be an issue with the SSD, in which case, you're in a bit of trouble.

I tried what you suggested, which is Yosemite. It gets to the end of install and then says 622,000,00 hours left and then goes back to like 15 minutes in a cycle

I think we've ruled out everything else then, so it's probably the SSD that's at fault. Do you have an external hard drive/SSD you could install it on temporarily?

OP:

Just something to try:
Do you have the Mac's internal firewall turned on?
If so, try turning it OFF, then try again.
