Ok so I have several clips from a friends video camera in .mpg but they will not play in quicktime.

They work perfectly in VLC but refuse to work in quicktime. Is this something wrong with the way the camera is encoding the .mpg?

Thanks

They are most likely MPEG-2, which Quicktime will not play out-of-the-box. You can get the Quicktime MPEG-2 component (about 20 USD, iirc) or encode it to a format that you can play, like MPEG-4.

I have 114 clips so does anyone have an idea of the best way I can mass change these clips so they will work in Final Cut?

At the moment when I try and import I get 144 unrecognized files error.

Thanks

p.s. what would be best to export them to for a final cut project set up in AVCHD AIC 1440x1080i50?
