I've been deciding whether or not to go with the 15" or 17" Macbook pro. The only change from the default configuration in all cases is upgrading to a 128 gigabyte Solidstate hard disk.

The low end is ruled out because it only has the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and does not include the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.

So now it is down to the 15" 2.66 GHZ or 2.8 GHZ 15" or the 17" 2.8GHZ (I don't want to pay for that final CPU GHZ jump for a 17" 3.06GHZ).

I realized one major difference with the 17" 2.8GHZ compared to the 15" 2.8GHZ is an extra USB slot, and most significantly an express slot.

One of the things I hate most about laptops is not being able to have multiple hard drives. In the archives of this forum I saw a thread about people using esata express card and enclosures. But that thread was from 2007!

What are my options these days any cards/ enclosures have updated drivers for snow leopard?

It would be so freaking awesome to be able to take advantage of a raid 0 setup, or have a disk dedicated to swap space or scratch disk for Adobe Photoshop for example. I know Desktop is the conventional way for a power hungry user such as I, but I must have portability, and simply cannot afford to buy a desktop & a laptop. I suppose upgrading to 8GB of memory would make more sense? =/.
