I only discovered eSATA yesterday when I was looking for a new external hard drive. For a small fortune I can get a 500GB drive with FW 400, 800 and eSATA - is it worth paying the extra? Has anyone heard rumours of the new MBP supporting eSATA (they've had FW 800 for yonks so would be a natural step-up...).

The MacPro has spare sata ports on the motherboard you can extend outside the case so I opened up my SR MBP to see if there was something I could hack that would give me an external eSATA capability that is bootable. The expresscard option is nice but does not support booting OS X or Windows. I wanted a way to boot Windows on a separate external drive for my MBP but so far no joy. Cheers,
