esc not working on dashboard

Hi,
After installing istatpro then uninstalling it, I discovered that I can't escape from the dashboard using the 'esc' button if I have no widgets. Is it supposed to be like this or is there something wrong with my mac? If there is something wrong with it, how can I fix it?😕
