ESPN is giving its digital platforms a makeover this week by consolidating its iPhone and iPad apps into one unified experience. The new ESPN app combines what was formerly ESPN SportsCenter for iPhone and ESPN ScoreCenter for iPad into one app that offers universal support for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The app has also received a significant redesign and long-overdue support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

In addition to a fresh coat of paint, the new ESPN app introduces a revamped ESPN Now that delivers up-to-the-minute sports coverage, including news, photos, videos and social media content. The app has also been updated with Cricket World Cup support, including video clips and scores, just as the international championship kicks off in Australia and New Zealand.

It's about time! I was wondering why it took them so long to make the ESPN app acceptable for 6/6+. It looks better much!

Kinda sucks ESPN only offer the iPad in landscape support, no portrait view. And they updated the resolutions for the 6 & 6 Plus, yet only portrait view.. No landscape support. Kinda ironic.

ESPN is extremely late to the game providing a universal app, and they get a write up about it? Uhhh ok.

...Android version coming later.

Proving once again that it's an iOS first world. Everybody gets to Android when they have time.

Probably because they finally did it, on top of rebranding/redesigning, and adding some other new features, which is also newsworthy for a fairly prominent/popular app like this one.

Can you email me want to get your info andrew.machado@espn.com ?
Hi Andrew,

I have my login info -- I've tested it on my iPhone without any issues, logging out and back in again. Logging in on my iPad results in an app crash and then the app crashes again if I try to re-access it. I had the iPad ScoreCenter (whichever one was iPad-specific) app installed before and it worked without any issues.
