Has anyone had experience with ESR genuine leather cases for any recent iPhones? They seem to be rated pretty well on Amazon but i was wondering if anyone here has one or has used them in the past to speak to the quality (or lack thereof).

I can get one for $25 for the mini, it seems like a great deal for real leather.

Yep.

I used the ESR for a week. A very nice case for the price. The leather is very papery and thin but it does feel good; I'm not convinced on it being 'genuine' based on this. I returned it once I received my Apple leather case.

In my opinion, the Apple leather case feels like a quality product. The leather is soft and will wear nicely. Others have complained of the lack of leather smell but mine definitely smells of leather like previous years. I picked my Baltic Blue case up off Amazon for £48.00 and paid £20 for the ESR. The Apple case is definitely worth the extra money

Since I had asked for it in the past myself, here are some comparison pics between the Apple leather case and the ESR leather case.

I have to say, yes you pay a premium with Apple, it is almost triple the price, but it is almost triple the quality... Both the leather material and the fit are much more superior.

The ESR cover has a much more grainy leather and is also "paperlike" as others have put it... Meaning it seems like paper-thin and is also quite "slippery", like paper. Also The side lids are more raised above the screen, to the point where it might even be disturbing while swiping up.

Both of these points were of no concern to me, when I was using the ESR, so for the money it is still a great choice... But now using them side by side, there is just no comparison...

Leather is very thin, tore with just the slightest impact, but it did protect the phone. The leather is bonded to a thin and flexible plastic tray. Doesn’t feel like leather, but it is. Unfortunately it’s a super thin and weak leather.

Fit and finish was OK but the Apple cases are far, far better.
