Have been using this paper like screen protector from ESR which I think is a far cheaper option to paperlike and frankly, I think its less prone to the scratching that happens with paperlike.

I noticed that on the new M4 11 pro screens, these dont look quite as grainy / blurry as with the earlier models, I am not sure if it is due to the new OLED screens, or whether they have improved something to make them look a lot sharper and not as dull.

I am quite happy with this one though, both from a pencil perspective for writing and the screen not being overly dull!

However, it does definitely make it a bit more dull under bright sunlight / intense light, but that’s the case with most matte screens.

I agree. I used one on my previous iPad Pro & got one for my M4 iPad Pro. It definitely “feels” less grainy and isn’t quite as blurry.

I’m pleased with this screen protector.

I ordered one for my 11 Pro

had one on my previous 11 pro.

these are must haves for people who use the pencil for note taking.
glad to hear it’s less blurry on the new 11 pro

I have been using the Rock Paper Pencil on my old 12.9’ iPad Pro and I’m using it (version 2) on my 13 iPad Pro along the supplied new pencil tips which work on the new Apple Pencil Pro. The new screen is removable with an improved hold as well a better texture to the paper like feel.
NanoCling Border: Securely bonds your screen protector to your iPad using static cling.
Matte Finish: Made with nano-texture technology to mimic the texture of paper and minimize glare.
Removable & Reusable: NanoCling is non-adhesive, bubble-free, and leaves no residue. Enjoy the matte finish of your screen protector for some projects and the crystal-clear display of your iPad for others.

I didn’t like the magnetic / removable ones becusae they seem to leave a reasonable gap between pencil and screen that I couldn’t get used to personally, maybe it doesn’t affect your work that much, I guess.

The other is storing them and maintaining them, I somehow always manage to crumple a bit of them and then it’s never the same experience again! Hence I decided to go only with the ones that are permanent and not removable.

The new version 2 has a significantly smaller NanoCling (nonahesive) border and no perceivable gab between screen and matte screen.

I think it might depend on the product - if you're talking specifically about the AstroPad one, I can't comment. But I have had some that left a gap so significant, that I cold feel the pencil touching the screen protector and then then pencil/screen protector touching the display glass.
Feels absolutely awful.

Others I've tried don't seem to leave that gap - or at least not significant enough for me to be bothered by it. I'm currently using an ESR one on my 10th gen iPad and that seems fine to me. But then, I mostly take notes with it - actually drawing might feel different.
