I am an electrical contractor and I am looking for a very basic app to use for making PDF Estimates and Invoices that I can email or (if necessary) print.

Currently I use an iPad app, but I would rather be able to do this on my Mac's big display so I am looking for an OS X app.

I use QuickBooks for bookkeeping, but I want to use a separate app for estimates/invoices so I would like a simple one.

What can you guys recommend? Thanks!

It's not an app directly but I use Fusion Invoice on top of a MAMP installation, it's simple in operation but allows quotes to be sent to a customer where they can 'reject' or 'accept' directly, when accepted it automatically converts the quote to an invoice? Best installed on an Internet facing VPS or similar but can be installed locally, there is also great support from the developer and community.

I've had bad experiences in the past with Zoho and avoid them these days. Honestly, if you're using QB and have your parts and rates, etc, already in there, I'd probably try to stay in the QB ecosystem. I'm not up to speed on what they have for apps (or online), but having everything tied together definitely has it's advantages.

I don't keep track of material or anything, I use QuickBooks only for bookkeeping of money.

I use an estimate/invoice app on my iPad just to write out jobs, I keep it very simple. I just want to be able to use a computer when sitting at my desk instead of having to use the little iPad. I wish the iPad app that i used had a desktop version.

I could use QuickBooks for this, but it just seems to bloated.

Bump, anyone?

I would think there are a lot of small business owners or self employed people doing consulting or similar type jobs here who use a simple app.
