Anyone have any ideas as to when we can expect to see Apple launch the 16" version of the M1 MacBook Pro?

Had a look at the MacRumors roundup and there's no mention of any rumours. 😕

There's a few possibilities:

- March 2021

- June 2021 (WWDC)

- November 2021

March or June seem the most likely. With all of the videos showing the MacBook Air beating the 16", I'm sure Apple wants to get their larger MacBook Pro back on the top end where it belongs. The sooner they do this the better and March would allow them to bring the 14", 16" and new iPad Pro out in one sleek "Pro" event. Launching in June would also be a good plan since it gives software developers even more time to get Apple silicon native apps out there. The 16" is marketed at a more pro user base so having apps like Maya and Photoshop ready to go on day 1 would be a big selling point.

IMO November is a little less likely. According to rumors, Apple has several new major Macs coming in 2021. Some reports even say we may see a new Mac Pro. Iff that is the case, I expect Apple will save the new iMac and Mac Pro for their November event and use a different event to introduce the new laptops.

Rumors are all over the place...the latest says we might see a 16 core CPU that is supposedly still being developed. Anytime between tomorrow and winter of 2022 seems like a safe estimate. If I had to choose, I would say summer or fall of 2021.

Most rumors peg 2H 2021. This aligns with rumors suggesting that it'll be A15 related as opposed to the current M1 being A14 related. This may score us better graphics and more Thunderbolt/USB-C ports.

My guess would be sometime next year
Considering there's only 23 days left of this year, I'm sure it's a safe bet... Or maybe it'll be released on Christmas Day?
At 10:40 AM Pacific time.
You sure buddy? I was thinking more like 10:40 AM Eastern time. 🤔
The roundup contains no info, but you expect some random guy in the forum to have info?
I was hoping for some more sensible forum users to reply with perhaps some reference to credible rumour sources, suggestions based on release cycles, predicted chip release dates etc...

Are you saying that outside of the MacRumors Roundup page, no other news can exist and no one is allowed discuss these topics? LOL

I'm starting to forget how these forums have grown with users wasting everyone's time posting comments of no value.

I'm thinking March - June seems likely too, though I'm hoping it's closer to March rather than June. Apple has released spec-bumps around March in the past and considering they've already released the M1 13" MBP and MBA already, I think they would released it as a spec-bump-type release rather than a major release?

That said, June's WWDC seems like a logical release date and from the rumours it seems the second-gen M-chip is likely being developed for the 16" MBP and iMac lineups which tends to push the release from June and beyond.
