Etcher not working

Trying to make a linux boot USB but etcher gets stuck on Starting. Tried versions 2.1.4 and 2.1.6
Running Mac os 26 on M2 mac mini. Bothy Cashy os and Ubuntu had the same error trying to create the USB what am I doing wrong?

Found the problem, etcher couldn't access the APFS partition on the USB Drive. reformatted to Macos journaled and it worked fine
