My iBook of about two years has had it's ethernet port break twice. Apple considers this "misuse" and I had to pay about 800 bucks to have it fixed the first time (the second time i said screw it and got airport, so i still have a broken ethernet port). Does anyone else know if this is common? Also, I'm looking to buy a new powerbook and am trying to find a good warranty program that will cover this (screw AppleCare). Does anyone know of any. I think CompUSA covers it, but I have to look into that more. Thanks

How did it break that caused them to say it was abuse?

It began wiggling and gradually got looser and looser through normal plugging and unplugging. I can't of one instance where it was pulled or jerked. The fact that it gradually got worse reaffirms to me that it wasn't due to any "misuse" but normal usage.
