I have an Apple TV 4K. Latest firmware.

I have 500mbps fibre and get around 350mbps when connecting via Wi-Fi.
When I connect from Orbi router gigabit port to the Apple TV gigabit port with a 1 meter Ethernet cable I only get 93mbps.

always 5 or 6 mbps below 100.

I’ve also tried a google Wi-Fi router and same impact.
It’s as if the Apple TV only has a 100mbps Ethernet port.

would live any suggestions.
Thanks

verify your router detects the apple tv as a gig byte port
sorry if obvious but b=bit and B=byte, difference is about a factor of ten
you only have a single device doing the ethernet routing

Maybe the ethernet cable is cheap Cat5? Try Cat5e or Cat6 cable which were designed for Gbps speeds.

yep tried that. Thanks for the reply

What are you using to test your speed? On all my devices I use the Stand-alone SpeedTest.net app. Everything else has so much over head that the results are severely inaccurate. I see the exact opposite, the Wired LAN Cat5e connection is faster. This is even after two Gigabit switches and the WLAN not all that far away.

Mine is connect to an ORBI also and I get 5 Dots off the WiFi connection. Speeds are:
Wired: ~920/924Mbps (940 the ceiling)
Wireless: ~322/207 (5 Dots)
Main Computer Hardwired: ~930/930 of the same ORBI

usually the router will have a led per ethernet port indicating the device's speed. Not all routers and or all ports are 100 or 1000 so.
